Deep Water Solo ’14 at the Quay – Gallery

We were delighted to be involved in the UK’s first Deep Water Solo climbing event, organised by The Quay Climbing Centre.

Deep Water Soloing is essentially bouldering on an overhanging wall set a pontoon over open water. No gear to support the climbers – if they fall, they get wet! This made for some spectacular action across the weekend.

The event was supported by some great brands and manufacturers of top climbing gear including Rab, DMM, La Sportiva, Tenaya, Five Ten, Julbo, and Snap.

Our involvement included a large marquee setup on the Quayside with fantastic event-exclusive offers available on a range of clothing and climbing gear.

The whole Quayside was buzzing and pack crowds enjoyed two day’s of climbing action with under 16’s & open competitions for men & women. It really showed off the area as a superb sports location, with cafes, bars, a surf shop, cycle shop and, of course, The Quay Climbing Centre all easily accessible.

Some big names in climbing were there including Neil Gresham, Steve McClure and Sierra Blair Coyle

Here are a few of our photos from the weekend’s climbing. Big congratulations to Michaela Tracey and Liam Hasley for winning the open categories & Hannah Slaney and Jim Pope for winning the u16 categories.
