Mountaineer Ian Ridley prepares to deliver his first-hand experiences of death defying Himalayan expedition to members of the public at Exeter University this November 8.
At 7:30pm, the Exeter-based adventurer will be sharing the ups and downs of expeditions from the last three years at the Newman A Lecture Theatre, Peter Chalk Centre, Exeter University.
A lavishly illustrated talk with stunning images and live footage, Ridley will vividly describe his experiences ascending Ama Dablam (6858m) and his attempts to scale the world’s highest point, Mount Everest (8848m) by both the North Ridge and South Col routes.
Expect tales of freezing temperatures, death-defying ice climbs and avalanches as well as detailed accounts of ‘summit days’ and what inspires Ridley to tackle the world’s toughest terrains in the most treacherous conditions.
Ian, is a member of the Ashburton branch of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team and there will be a small stand on display at the evening and a prize draw to raise funds for the team.
