Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan

Amanda from our Taunton store recently returned from an inspiring trip to Jordon for autumn adventures with her husband that included some trekking and scrambling, sounds fun!

This was the destination for myself and my husband’s autumn adventure walking. In some the most spectacular desert scenery in the world it provides an ideal albeit tuff environment for trekking and scrambling the temp often getting above 46ºc. We had to carry at least 4 litres of water at any one time making sure that we drank at least 6 litres a day so as to be sure we did not get dehydrated.

Most of my kit worked very well and a few stood out my Tilley Hat was exceptional without which I am certain I would have got sunstroke it soaked up all the sweat shaded my head and neck made the heat bearable.

I also wore Craghoppers shirts and Arcteryx base layer pants they both performed very very well, my PHB socks stayed oder free and comfortable all trip.

Other folk on the trip wore different makes of boots all with water proof linings nobody complained of hot feet but all had wicking socks on.

I did rip my shorts but in farness they were lightweight cotton not made for scrambling. We wild camped slept under the stars and spent clear moonlight nights in my Chrysalis snug sleeping bag – 5 it was very comfortable and in did not wake at all.

Our trip finished walking in Petra a must if you visit Jordan.
